The Spot is in Umtentweni, also known as Tweni to the locals or Mthentheni on the latest maps of South Africa. The Spot was once the public change rooms for the beach and a tea garden where groms (young surfers) came to buy some sustenance. For most of the year, Tweni beach is quiet but
Umtentweni is a small coastal village 5km’s south of Port Shepstone. Apart from long stretches of golden beaches, the scenery in the area includes rolling green hills and rural villages inland.
Lake Eland is a 5000 acre game reserve overlooking the Oribi Gorge. Giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, eland, bushbuck and reedbuck are just some of the animals that can be viewed here. Lake Eland also offer hiking trails, horse riding and mountain bike rentals, giving you other alternatives for viewing game other than from a car. Highlights
The Oribi Gorge is 25km inland for The Spot and makes a great daytrip. Carved out by the Umzimkulu River, the gorge is not only scenic, but offers a full day of adventure and excitement.
